Read large numbers in groups of hundreds. The grouping order in English is as follows from most to least:

trillion
billion
million
thousand
hundred
tens

In British English, include 'and' between the hundred and the tens. In American English, do not use 'and' between the hundred and tens. Notice that hundred, thousand, etc. is NOT followed by an 's'.

Two hundred NOT two hundreds

789- seven hundred eighty nine

521- five hundred twenty one

British English

Example:

524- five hundred twenty four

621- six hundred twenty one

Thousands

The remaining examples use American English.

Example:

"67,122- sixty seven thousand one hundred twenty two"

"13,912- thirteen thousand nine hundred twelve"

Millions

234,700,000 - two hundred AND thirty-four million seven hundred thousand

American English

Example:

"895,471,254- eight hundred ninety five million four hundred seventy one thousand two hundred fifty four "

"800,565,147- eight hundred million five hundred sixty five thousand one hundred forty seven"

Speaking About Numbers

Numbers are read in the following order in English

trillion, billion, million, thousand, hundred

Example:

2,350,400 => two million three hundred and fifty thousand four hundred
